UNPA+Tiger Pan|The Year of the Loong Zodiac Stamps

The symbolism of the "Dragon and Auspicious Clouds" in the Year of the Dragon represents nobility, honor, and is a symbol of luck and success. The "Auspicious Clouds" symbolize auspiciousness, good fortune, and smooth sailing. Together, they represent the prosperous and auspicious wishes for happiness and the longing for a beautiful life. The dragon, as a unique cultural symbol and embodiment of Chinese civilization, the dragon holds a lofty position in the Chinese nation, symbolizing profound cultural significance.

Among the twelve zodiac animals, the Chinese dragon holds a significant place. To commemorate the lunar year of Jiachen in 2024, we have designed the Dragon Year stamp for the United Nations.

The design of the stamp depicts a prosperous scene with the dragon soaring and flowers in full bloom. "The clouds follow the dragon, and the wind follows the tiger"- a green dragon soars upward, with a graceful posture and powerful claws, as if galloping through clouds and waves. The dragon is the messenger of rainfall and blessings, and the auspicious dragon with its head held high brings harmony and favorable weather to all nations. The Chinese national flower, the peony, is in full bloom, presenting a picture of prosperity, peace, and strength
In terms of painting techniques, we have employed the most distinctive Chinese painting technique, "Gongbi"(meticulous brushwork). "Gongbi" not only represents China's outstanding traditional culture but also resonates strongly with people of Chinese heritage allowing people from different nations to better understand the excellence of Chinese traditional culture. Combining the "baimiao" (freehand brushwork) technique, we use concise and expressive lines to depict the floating and auspicious clouds as the main design decoration and backdrop, symbolizing progress and good fortune, evoking a sense of flying.
